I have a geforce fx 5600 it has like shit all performance boost over a Gf4 mmx 440 so go radeon.
Radeon 9600 or GeForceFX 5600
I bought a Radeon 64 DDR back in April 2001. While the card worked fine for the most part, it was obvious ATI was lacking with their drivers. Either because companies developed products without ATI in mind, or they were just too slow to release drivers. I had a number of problems with that card for the time I had it. I got Windows XP when it was released only to discover my ATI card gave everything a pinkish glow, even with the newest drivers. I had to go back to Windows 98 and continued to have problems with things not displaying correctly.
These days ATI is a lot more popular and people claim they've improved, but I don't think I'll buy another one after that experience. I paid $180 for that card and they didn't support it, no way I'm giving them any more money. The GeForce4 I bought about a year ago has worked flawlessly. Buying ATI is like gambling your money.
I was a die hard ATI hater for years. The pile of shit known as the radeon 7500 mobility or w/e was the worst card ever as i had to run custom tweaks/configs for every single game just to get them to launch. They got better and released the 8500 and eventually the 9700, meanwhile nvidia FUCKES UP with their FX line, and i still hated ATI and knew nvidia would improve with their upcoming 5900. Result? FAILURE. The 5900 is a fucking joke, meanwhile ATI has improved significantly in every way and outperforms almost all nvidia cards in every way. Until Nvidia cans their fucking FX line and wakes up to smell the "we no longer rule the competition" coffee and starts making GOOD products again, buy an ATI.
you would have to be a fucking idiot to go with any geforceFX.
people may say "they arent cheating anymore and fps is up", but even the top end 5950 ($500) still doesnt get fps as high as the mid range ($150) 9600 pro or the 9600XT ($180), and 9800 is even higher.
and then u try it with dx9 shaders, AA and AF.... owned
Yep, I switched from a Geforce FX 5800 to an All-in-Wonder 9800 Pro and I do not regret it one bit.How do the tv recording features work? As good as a Tivo?
I am not sure if it is as good as Tivo because I have never used Tivo but it does rock for recording stuff you wont be around to watch, great quality.
