It is most definitly called soda. We had this topic a few months ago actually. Basically it breaks down like so:


 


Canadians and wannabe Canadians (see northwest, Michigan, Wisconsin) use the term pop.


 


In the south they call all soda Coke. Example:


"Hey can you buy me a Coke?"


"Sure, what kind do you want"


"I'll have a Sprite thanks"


Note: MC lives in Florida which is really part of the north, except for parts of nothern Florida.


 


In other parts of the world such as the UK and Australia there is no general term, or so they claim. I find this to be odd.


 


For the educated, the term is "soda".

but Coke does describe everything except DP

It's true. Over here we have the mental capacity to remember the names of individual brands and such, so we ask for things by name. Coke, Sprite, Pepsi etc..
