Im running windows 98, and whenever it crashes or locks up, it takes about 10 mins to restart. I know there's a way to get it to boot up quicker, it was in Stiffers fantastic tweaking guide for pewp machines, but i've has to reformat since then
Any suggestions?

Well, there is always the usual answer: format and reinstall...

At what point does it hang. Before or after it has built the desktop?

Well, the crashing happens kinds randomly when im doing stuff like word documents, web surfin, playing Q2, or, well anytime really.
Then I have to restart by turning the power off, and its the restarting that takes ages - the Windows 98 splash screen stays on for about 4-5 mins, then the monitor just goes black for another 3-4 mins, then it starts building the desktop, which takes far longer than it used to.... the process takes far to fucking long for my liking  I just wondered if there were any configs i could tweak to help it boot faster, thats all....
maybe format/reinstall is the way forward, :(
