How do people of Islam become extremists?

well being a muslim myself I hate being in the position that these terrorist assholes put me in, and make me and my religion which preeches peace and loving between all of mankind look so bad.  Id like to thank all you guys for being understanding to muslims that are in my position.

 

And veg, i wouldnt defend anyone simply because they are my religion, infact ill be more pissed that they disgraced my religion so bad and want them to go down even harder.

 

I guess u get fanatics in every religion, my personal belief is to never force your beleifs upon others, if you have any questions about islam i am happy to answer them to the best of my abilities.  I dont follow it strictly, but more base my ideals and morals upon it.

but dont these extremists also confess to dying for their cause, so the threat of killing them wouldnt have any influence on what they say or do?

The amount of corruption that's abundant in Indonesia is overwhelming. I've stayed there for a year so I know. Justice don't ever really prevail over there. I'm not saying that the guy they have in custody had nothing to do with it, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Like it was said earlier, Indonesia is under a lot of pressure to come up with the culprits, and the cops there are corrupt, so It *could* be possible that he wasnt really the man, but then again it *could* also be the other way around.

the australian federal police are over there also helping with investigation, which you would hope would oversee everything that is done. Having said that though the indonesians will have the final word on any outcome i spose.

Its mainly being brought up in a fucked up environment full of closed minded jackasses.  I am Muslim but I think its retarded what the extremists do, putting a bad name on those Muslims that practice the religion peacefully.
