Black Box

Guys, I just installed CS along with the 1.5 patch on my system and for some lameass reason, i get a Black Box on the top left corner of the screen when I play in OpenGL mode.

my spex:

Athlon 1800xp

Ati Radeon 8500

please jelp meh~!

Best bet is too try to PM MikeJ or axe. Did you already post on teh CS Tech Help forum? Also do you have the most up to date drivers and DirectX?

Ive got the latest drivers as well as the latest directx and all. Its an annoying box that takes up oine fourth of the screen. :(

whenever its loading in console, press escape to back to menu and then resume game, its a bug i gots too

Oh, I've been getting that since forever. It usually only started appearing after I downloaded some bots.

If I pressed escape and then resumed play, I found that my entire HUD would be gone except for any part that was originally blocked by the black box.

I also found that if I quit HL altogether and then tried again, I'd get lucky. Although, that probably ain't working for you.

So yeah, I'd also like a remedy...

Yeah try this out. I have this problem every once and awhile with NS. And thats what I have to do.

It's a pretty fucking annoying bug. The problem started ever since I upgraded from a Voodoo 5 to a Radeon 8500.

The "Esc+Resume" thing works but for some reason some keys get fux0red and unbound (my flashlight stops working) and it's a pain to have to do it everytime u fire up CS.

A solution I think would be to play the game in Direct3D as the box dosn't come up when I play on direct3D. It's just that OpenGL is much better to play cs on as there is a drop in performance in D3D for me.

That happens when you load a lan game as "host"

Never heard about losing binds though, have you checked that you enabled flashlight on like the 2nd pagen of setting for a lan server??

I also use opengl as my tnt2 cant take direct3d, i get sum major.....stoppage

I play with bots so i usually play hosting a game. The binding problem stopped happening so i got things working fine. i just hate having to "esc" everytime i fire up cs. direct 3D is teh suck for cs.
