I think part of it was his paranoia of the whole situation, not sure if he was imagining things or not, or what was happening.
Is he dead at the end, or just pleasantly stupid now? Does he know he's stupid, and know that he used to know lots?
he not dead, he just damaged a part of his brain that involves math. At the end when the little girl ask him to divide something, he cant do it and he smiles. He can live a regular life now without math overpowering every aspect of it. I think he did it cuz everyone wanted the number from him, and if people could predict everything in nature with the number then there would be chaos.
It was cool how he was like everything in our lives has to do with spirals, and we were built around spirals, thus everything comes back to them.

I saw Pi long before Requiem For A Dream. It's a good movie, but I think I'm too young (or dumb, I dunno... ?:() to understand all the deep messages and philosophical questions and whatnot. I came back from watching it and I was like "...wut?"
Yeah.

That end scene was all in his head. It didn't really happen. Obviously a drill to the brain will have more than mild conseqences. The movie was about a guy dealing with with his mental self, not his physical self, as some of you may have interpreted the movie.
