my girlfriends trying to get the prices and everything set up for a computer, she has a case that might be able to be used.


 


So far this is what I got..


 


800-1000mhz Duron


Dunno what board D:


20-40 GB harddrive


300 Watt PS


256 sdram


Liteon burner or something.


cheap soundblaster card or something


20 dollar modem :)


 


mainly i wanna know what kinda mobo to get. and we are trying to keep it cheap, and i have a video card she can use. I was thinking a asus a7a266. or abit kt7a. dunno :D

Look for a board that uses the KT266a chipset. The two that you mention below use the KT133a chipset which is slower.


 


The cost difference is very little but the performance is a lot better.

what is the difference between the ___ron processors and the normal processors from intel or AMD?

DUron and celeron? duron is the budget amd chip, and celeron is the budget intel. BUT Duron pwns Celeron, because Celeron has shitty chip cache.


 


 


KTF: SHe's trying to get this as cheap as possible, she only needs an internet machine. She goes on AIM, the internet, and downloads songs. That's why a faster speed stuff doesn't really need to be used. I'll see if I can find a faster one though for around the same price. See the only thing is that her dad might pay for some of it, and to convince him we have to find the cheapest thing. Otherwise I'd look for better stuff, and she'd prolly get an Athlon/XP. Thanks though I'll look into it :D
