1. i think the longest i slept was like 14 hours I think after an all night LAN party.
2. I go to bed too late on school nights, 11:30, 12. Ive found I'm always beat tired unless i get over 8 hours of sleep, so Ive been tryin to get to bed earlier.
As for ways to fall asleep, when I was younger I would have like week long times where I wouldn't be able to get to sleep until like 3am. There were a few things I would do that would help me:
- First of all dont stare at the clock when trying to fall asleep, if you have to, turn it the other way.
- If your body is used to going to sleep at 2am but you want to get to bed earlier, I found its easier for me to go to bed a lil earlier every night instead of just going to bed at like 10pm when I had slept from 2am-1pm the night before.
- Relax, dont get worked up by not being able to fall asleep, like panicing that if you don't get to sleep youll be tired. I used to say to myself "Big deal if I cant sleep tonight, ive been though days with no sleep before." Usually that would relax me.
- Dont think about sleep, think about something boring or something that can distract you, and relax you. For example I would think about my computer setup, or what I want to get for my comp. Or, I would think of some place and explore it in my mind from the memories I have of it, like this hotel my family stays at every year when we go on vacation.
- You can also try counting. I would think of like the number 100 in gold shining, and then pull 100 down and replace it with 99 and as soon as it was set, the gold would shine. I dunno it would just distract me from trying to fall asleep so I fell asleep.
- Also getting up and taking a stroll around the house helped too. Get a glass of water, look out the window and then when I was relaxed go back into bed and usually it would help.
- If all else fails, use the physicological (sp?) power of benndryl or tylenol PM. They never make me drowsy but just the physicological power behind it thinking, ok i took something to make me drowsy, I can sleep now. Though watch out with them you could find yourself not being able to fall asleep at night without pills, and you dunt want that.
