I have like 600 digital photos of the group of college folk I hang out with. Most of them are either crappy or are repeats, leaving me with maybe 100 or so rather nice pictures.

Anyway, I need good software to organize/crop/label/whatever these pictures. Basically, the more seemingly useless features, the better. Right now I am using iPhoto on my laptop, which is decent, but there must be some better Windows programs out there. Any suggestions?

Also, to address some of your replies before they are posted:

- Compiling an album of pictures of friends does not make me a girl.

- Yes, I do have black friends.

- No, I am not going to post pictures of myself. This is to YOUR advantage.

- MS Paint does not have the capabilities I am looking for.

- Using the preview view in Windows Explorer does not either.

- This post was too long; I don't blame you if you didn't read.

Thanks.

I haven't used either extensively so I can't say for sure, but ACDsee and IrfanView look like good programs for what you're trying to accomplish.

Not posting a picture of yourself would be a crime. We've been waiting for oh so long.

Also, LOL black people.

What axe said will work, or you could use photoshop by setting up some automated actions. All you have to do is perform the task once in photoshop while recording the action, and then you can use that one action with all the images. I use this all the time at work, and it saves a lot of time.

Thanks for the tips, I'll look into those programs.

I recently "bought" a "copy" of Adope Photoshop Album. I figure those folk know what they are doing.

I should really look into what information you can encode into a JPEG file.
