hey. what did you think of the Butterfly Effect?

The Bufferfly Effect

Ashton Kutcher doesn't strike me as a drama actor, but he did a decent enough job for this film. The film deals somewhat with time travel which makes for an interesting plot. The writing/acting of some scenes (especially the flashbacks) are below par and the story leaves something to be desired. Ulitmatly the film was entertaining, which is the main goal of any movie, so in that sense it succeeded. It's an ok movie to watch, not worth buying though.

The Time Machine

I really love time travel movies, but this one turned out to be a major disappointment. The first 30 minutes or so were interesting, after that the movie was ruined with a stupid plot twist. I can't believe this movie costed $80 million to make. Anyone who can sit through this entire movie is legally brain dead. Avoid at all costs.

The Shawshank Redemption

One of the best movies of our time. Based on a short story by Stephen King, The Shawshank Redemption has some of the best acting you will ever see. Without a doubt the best performances of both Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman's careers. While this is a fantastic movie, it just doesn't stick well with me as well as some other films do, and I wouldn't group it among my favorites. Definitly worth seeing though.

The Perfect Score

This is another stupid film put out by MTV. The same stupid formula goes into every movie they make. High school kids doing unbelievable things, a recycled plot, jokes that fall flat. They put the bare minimum into a movie to make a profit. I wouldn't be suprised if the script took less than a day to write. Don't watch this.

American Beauty

Another fantastic movie of the late 90's. It's hard to say what exactly is so good about this film, it's more of the overall impression you're left with after watching it. Great direction and an overall style that hadn't been seen previously makes this film a unique treat. Worth owning on DVD.

Fahrenheit 9/11

Unlike Bowling for Columbine, this movie was a lot of news clips and stock footage without many appearances from Moore himself. For the internet savvy, nothing of this film will be new to you. I had seen most of the signifigant news clips and read the stories touched on long before seeing this movie, so nothing was too suprising. Michael Moore relies on others to write his movies, which is fine, but I wouldn't give him all that much credit as a film maker. Just how quickly this film was made (considering all the 2004 references) was suprising. Joe averge will probably find this film to be a bigger revalation than those of us reading the news. Worth seeing once.

Hellboy

Generic superhero movie these days. With the release of X-men in 2000 and it's highly successful box office gross, everyone has been jumping on the superhero bandwagon. Some tend to be good (Spiderman), others turn out not so good (Hulk). Hellboy is unfortunatly an example of the latter. The plot couldn't keep my attention very well, and the money they spent on CGI wasn't put to very good use. Not worth seeing.

Boiler Room

This was a suprisingly decent movie. Considering I had only heard of it briefly years ago, I wasn't expecting much. If you liked any of the following: Fight Club/Office Space/Rounders, this movie might be right up your alley. My only complaint is the hip hop soundtrack could have been toned down a little, but I guess that's what all the kids like these days. Worth checking out.

Coffee and Cigarettes

An unusual format for a movie. Composed of a series of short skits about people talking over coffee and filmed entirely in black and white. It's a lot of talk about nothing really, which some people may like. I found it mildly entertaing at most and only watched it through to see who would be featured in the next skit. You can skip this one.

Underworld

I couldn't even sit through this movie. A terrible plot and a cheat attempt at ripping of other successful movies such as The Matrix and Blade. How the rookie director landed this i have no idea. However, tickets seemed to sell because the movie was based around a hot chick in tight pants. There's even have a sequal planned to this travesty. Oy vey! Avoid this movie as if it were a disease.

KING ARTHUR -

Saw this today, its worth watching for some entertainment. The effects, story, footage and fighting scenes are all well done. This movie falls short of a great but its alright in a way. Its an interesting interpretaion of the King Arthur legend. The one thing this movie does lack a little is more story, it had alot that it could have done to enhance or keep the story going. nonetheless if you've seen everything ealse go see King Authur if you've nothing better to do.

3/5

SPIDERMAN 2 -

I generally don't like superhero stories. I was surprised to find that I actually liked spiderman 1 and spiderman 2 to me is just as good and appealing as the first. I don't generally like marvel type superhero movies but this one and its predecessor are ok. nothing mind blowing but still worth whatching. the plot although cleache works well to enhance the movies entertainment factor along with the action and very good special effects.
