In other parts of the world such as the UK and Australia there is no general term, or so they claim. I find this to be odd.

It's true. Over here we have the mental capacity to remember the names of individual brands and such, so we ask for things by name. Coke, Sprite, Pepsi etc..

Oh that's right you limeys only have 3 brands of soda.

Yeah, Dr. Pepper is pretty great, especially on a hot, long day when you have to hold it in until you get to a urinal. Then, you can finally let that Dr. Pepper flow.

I'm from mid-NJ originally. It's soda. Imagine the stress I go through daily living in Washington now, where everyone mis-labels it "pop." Dumb, ignorant bastards.
