DEADLINE: December 26, 2004

MISSION: Go around with a camera and take pictures that somehow fit the list of captions/titles/words. Be creative, artistic, or humorous about it. You can use symbolism, puns, or interpret the list item literally and just take a nice shot of it. For example, if "Holy shit!" was one of the items, you could either take a picture of an insane car accident or of feces with a crucifix. If you can, combine several items into a single photo. Just do as many as you can. Most of all, have fun or whatever.

THE LIST:

Another one?

Bagels, bagels, bagels!

Cameras don't like me.

Duo!

Eat me.

Fuck the police! (don't do anything too illegal, please)

Garbage.

How do I get out of this?

I don't think that's a good idea.

Jewish.

Kill it!

LOL (it better be funny)

Metal.

Nothing.

Owned!

Phallic.

Quit while you're ahead.

Rescue.

Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows.

Tanks.

Unable to comply.

Vent.

Watch out!

XXX

You are the king/queen!

Zebra.

RULES:

- Submit each photo along with the letter(s) corresponding to the item(s) it represents.

- The photo must be yours. If you have a friend take it, that's okay, just don't take stuff from the internet or magazines. If you take a photo of a picture, that will count, but may not be judged too highly.

- No photos larger than 800x600 pixels. This lessens the advantage someone with a 5MP camera would have over someone with a 3.2MP or scanned film photo. Keep your full-size versions in case you get a really cool shot someone may want.

- Each item can only be assigned to one photo. However, several different items may be assigned to a single photo.

- Photos may not be edited in any way other than cropping, resizing, rotation, and brightness, contrast, or color corrections of the photo as a whole.

SCORING:

First, the photo must follow all the rules and the item or items assigned to it must make sense in a way that is evident without an explanation.

Representation - How well does the item relate to the photo?

0/3 = Doesn't count, so the Quality and Coolness scores are void.

1/3 = It's a bit of a stretch, but it does make sense.

2/3 = The item is clearly represented.

3/3 = This photo matches perfectly with specifically this item.

Quality - How good is the quality of the photo?

0/3 = Barely can see what's going on.

1/3 = Motion blur, out of focus, bad angle, exposure problem, etc., but recognizable.

2/3 = Decent shot; not too many problems.

3/3 = Great shot; looks professional.

Coolness - How funny, shocking, interesting is the content of the photo?

0/3 = Most boring picture ever.

1/3 = You did what was asked, nothing more.

2/3 = Hey, I see what you did there. Good for a chuckle.

3/3 = Wow/Hahahahaha/Holy shit!

Item Combo Bonus - Your Quality and Coolness scores are multiplied by the number of acceptable items assigned to the photo and your Representation scores are detemined per item and summed up. Note that if you have multiple items in one photo, it's hard to get a 3 for any Representation score. In addition to this score:

+1 = One acceptable item

+3 = Two acceptable items

+5 = Three acceptable items

+7 = Four acceptable items

And so on.

This is a bit dense, if you have any questions, just ask.

Whoever gets the highest total score wins!

JUDGES: Probably me. It would be better if we got a few people who aren't participating to judge, then average scores.

PRIZE: Don't know yet. Maybe $10 towards some SA purchase. We'll see. Don't get your hopes up.

I am so in on this. However, I must warn you my camera is a piece of junk that is incapable of any kind of detail. As soon as it stops raining I will get to work.

Great idea, Chomps!

Fuck yeah! I didn't have time to get any of this done, it still looks like fun though so I might try and get some anyway.

Man I feel like such a pud for not finishing this. We really need to pick up the pace around here. I did take a few pictures when this thread first showed up, then promptly forgot about it. So here's the few pictures I took back in November. Can I at least get an E for effort?
