It was costing Lythium a load of money in bandwidth bills.

Hate to be a bit of a Bernard, but wasn't GamesNet the old network? So can it be old and new at the same time?????? :tree:

The current gamesnet is run by an old gamesnet admim that went crazy and sued. Gamesurge has most of the original gamesnet crew and servers, and all the original gamesnet people moved to there, including us.

I don't like this hopping around between servers one bit. I think we should stay on gameslice and not let a little downtime disrupt things.

Gameslice goes through little problems every so often, but in the end it's no better or no worse than any other network. School just got out and the kiddies are hard at work trying to attack the server, however I'm sure it will be fixed just like in the past.

The new gamesnet is an awful choice as it seems to be run from inside a turkish bathhouse. Random people from god knows where joining every two minutes and asking for pics is not something we can tolerate.

As far as setting up another irc.semicolon-zero.com server, I've looked into it and it's not as easy as it sounds. For starters, most hosting companies don't allow IRC, and those that do charge a premium. The reason for this is they tend to draw attacks from every 14-year-old on the internet.

The advantages of staying on gameslice are obvious. Not only has it been our home for years, but many people also chill in other channels on the network for whatever reason.

Well, apparently we're now all split up between Zirc, Gamesurge, and Gamesnet. Rather than everyone just choosing the network they like and connecting to it, maybe we could all vote and whichever network wins becomes the "official" home of the channel. Have a poll thread and link to it in each of the twenty #semicolon-zero's topics. Just a thought.

No one is on gamesnet anymore, and the channel on gamesurge is nearly empty. We're all on zirc.

Why don't you come on Quakenet? Never had problems with that network.
