I don't remember exactly how I happened upon this place, but I thought hey what a cool endeavor. I pretty much never shut my computer off and thought hey why not put it too work for some kind of greater good while I am not around/using it. Of course that thought came after researching and understanding Stanfords little project here:

After a little more research I found out that people could form their own teams to get some kind of credit/reknown I guess. I just thought hey wouldn't it be cool if we had a ;0 team. After consorting with Rich I went ahead and created us a ;0 team.

The program only uses about 5megs of RAM but does use about 50 percent of the CPU... so this would be something we would probably want to do when we where not at our computers, i.e. school, sleep, work, gym, etc. Right now just surfing the net running IRC and GAIM and running four torrents I am still able to use my PC with negligable system lag...and that lag is random the program is configurable so you can adjust how much of your processor it uses. It is really quite a self explantory little program as well. I have been messing around with it for about a day and a half now and have figured a good bit out so if something does elude your attention please let me know and I will see if I already know the answer.

P.S. Our Team number is: 46853

Also wanted to say say pretty well known other groups are already contributing, like HardOCP, MaximumPC Magazine, Google, Futuremark, SA, etc. They have a listing if you want to check out the rest.

Don't mean to be a coqmungler but this is at least five years old, and pointing that out makes me feel superior. Anyway at least it's not some gay scifi shit like SETI. Anyway back to the point, download BOINC and participate in (not so) many useful projects like this. Apparently in Korea (or some place like that), they have their own national distributed computing program so they can all help society. <3
